Educational movies for US officers in the Sixties were really tough! I wonder: how were the movies...

This film was made to instruct police officers on the basics of childbirth and to show them an actual birth - mostly so they wouldn't panic or pass out when confronted with such a scenario. WARNING! The poor acting by actual police officers and doctors and low production values in this film make the live birth scene even more shocking than others from this genre. archive.org is a great great resource thank you very much for uploading

This program was produced for broadcast on the 40th anniversary of the world premiere of Ionisation, a percussion work by Edgar Varese. Nicolas Slonimsky, who conducted that performance, reminisces about the event with David Cloud of KPFK. Recorded on March 6, 1973. Varese's music was one of the first pieces in Western Classical music history performed solely on percussion instruments. Using a variety of conventional (snare drum, bass drum) and unconventional sources (sirens, Lion's roar), the...

The corner of 23rd Street and 6th Avenue was renowned for its gusty breezes that might allow a man to catch a glimpse of a woman's stockings. In this staged scene we see Alfred Abadie, an Edison cameraman, and Florence Georgie strolling along when Georgie has a Marilyn Monroe type moment. This film was restored by the Library of Congress and was copied at 16fps from 35mm.

This music is great! I'd make a ballet of it...

reamus music is very clear, silent and fragile. a hypertrip into futuristic worlds yet unknown. this visionary spatial field let us glance at 2063. the release comes in a very closed aestatic way, including the tracknaming, the music itself and the marvelous coverartwork from yuan peng. in 'nine days' all just happens about some very basic rhym-patterns, that are formed by sone samples. this is an adventurous trip into sci.fi and HAL9000, carried away by organ, ringmodulated and violalike...

Terrific Thank you

This video is the realization of a vision that obsessed me for some time. In this vision I saw an endless landscape of ephemeral shifting forms and colors. I proceed through the forms like I was behind a window, looking through it and contemplating the changing landscape. Maybe this window is the window of a space ship that travels through a primordial nebula, a star cradle. I think that the video is suited enough for an ambient video projection to be used in some kind of installation. In fact,...

Bravo!

In film, a storyboard artist is hired at the beginning of a project. When a storyboard artist is hired by a motion picture company, the artist must break down the scenes of the script into shots which can be filmed. This is done under the supervision of the film's director in order to insure the director's vision from the start of the project. Therefore, it can be helpful for the storyboard artist to know the mechanics of filmmaking when assisting the director. As the production proceeds, the...

This film really moved me!

A documentary work in progress from Judy Chaikin explores the history and impact of all-female jazz and big band groups from the 1920s to the present. All-female jazz bands were on the margins of society. They were often integrated orchestras in a segregated world, and of course the field was dominated by men. It was said that women were suited only for the piano and that they didn?t have the strength or stamina to play wind instruments. But for the jazz instrumentalists featured in Chaikin?s...
